Eve Mattress Review

I realize it may be a little weird for my followers to see me reviewing mattresses on my blog. Well I’ve actually been approached by a number of different mattress retailers recently and since my blog was hacked and everything erased, I figured since I'm starting over/a new beginning deserves new items. So I will be adding new categories and items to my blog.
I hope my reviews will be helpful and informative to you.
What’s so different about Eve? Well, kind of everything. And that’s what excited me. Plus, I mean, LOOK AT IT. IT MATCHES MY BED.
Anyway, the fact that it matched was just a bonus! Also, that photo of Wayne was not staged – that was his actual look of contentment when he laid on it the first time!
I will say right off the bat that I am never ever provided an item on the basis of a positive review. This does NOT happen and everything I’m saying is my honest opinion and my own personal experience. If I didn’t like it, I would simply send it back and you’d not have heard a thing about it. I only accept and review items here that I actually WANT to share with you. Okay so we’re clear there, right? Good. It’s important to me you know this.
So getting back to what’s different. The manufacturers of the Eve Mattress were originally from large mattress retailers. They understood that giving people a million different choices of mattresses ended up being a ridiculously complicated affair and manufacturing a million different choices wasn’t cheap and that was reflected in their costs and overheads and in the price of those mattresses. It also made it confusing for customers who were overwhelmed and not sure what to choose, being forced to feel all weird and vulnerable laying on different mattresses that other people have probably laid on before them in the middle of some superstore just to test out which was best. Awkward.
So they left their respective mattress businesses behind and started their own. They decided they were only going to make ONE type of mattress. Yep, that’s it. Just one. And set out to figure out what THE PERFECT MATTRESS actually was.
They also set out to make the customer buying experience as easy and as practical as possible. This meant an online shop only, translating into no middle men, no excessive mark-up and it’s delivered to your doorstep in a box. There’s also a 100 day trial period so if at any time you decide it’s not perfect for you, they will come and pick it up at no cost. So it’s really a no-brainer.
I wanted to go through the same customer service experience as you guys would do so I placed my order online. When you shop on the site, there’s a handy little live chat box that opens if you need to ask a question but there’s lots of great information on the site and it’s really easy to use. Once I chose my mattress size (remember, there’s only one type of mattress so only one product page to look at!) and went through the buying process (it connects to Paypal if you need it, which I find invaluable so I don’t need to go running for my purse and I know my purchase is protected) and that was all there was to it. Super straight-forward.
I placed my order on Thursday. On Friday, I received a text message saying my mattress was out for delivery and on Saturday morning, I received another text telling me my mattress was on it’s way. The mattress was delivered by around 9am on Saturday. That’s not bad, eh?
The mattress arrived in a big huge yellow (rather heavy just to warn you) box and once opened, you are greeted by a happy message and your mattress snugly curled up inside. The box is fairly easy to then pull apart at the seams.
Once the mattress is removed from the box (which is really cute in itself with lots of quotes about sunshine and new days), it’s in a lightweight bag. The mattress has had a lot of the air removed from it when it first arrives(making it cheaper to transport than a traditional mattress) so revealing it from it’s cocoon is rather exciting ;) And yes, I totally let Wayne struggle with that himself – my excuse is that I was wielding the camera!! Ha!
We then removed the protective plastic from the mattress and laid it on the bed! It started to fluff up almost instantly although it was still a little soft at that point. It takes around 4 hours for the Eve mattress to fully regain it’s air and overnight, it goes to full capacity (it’s like magic I swear).
The cover is a soft knit fabric that feels soft and lovely, not like that scratchy awful polyester that most mattresses are covered with. Below the cover there is a layer of memory foam which is natural, antimicrobial and keeps your body cool whilst providing a bit of ‘bounce’ – this also moulds to your body when you put your weight on it. It’s INCREDIBLY comfortable and you really feel the full support of it.
Below the layer of memory foam is polyurethane foam which helps supports the top layer and really, you just feel cradled. I have NO issue with getting comfy before sleeping now – I have had issues with previous mattresses of moving into various different positions just trying to get comfortable and with this, as soon as you are in a horizontal position, you feel like you can just stay there FOREVER. So nice.
The final layer is high density foam which provides a more firm support for the upper layers. The incredible thing about this bed is that it feels both soft AND firm. Which to me sounds like some kind of voodoo witchcraft but is apparently the result of a lot of research and testing by the guys at Eve.
I have to say guys, I’m a total convert. I mean, I wish I could invite you all around for a sleepover because that’s the only way I could convince you that this is the BEST and MOST COMFORTABLE mattress I have ever slept on. And it’s not just me. Wayne has said exactly the same thing (although his words were actually, “It’s f***ing awesome…” because he’s a potty mouth, apologies). I think Meisha approves as well.
We have both slept better on this mattress in the last week and a half than we have in years and let’s face it – we’re not exactly young, we sometimes wake up with mysterious aches and pains (it’s a hard fact of life, peeps, that’s what happens once you pass 40). But with this bed? We wake up feeling GOOD. I can’t get over how the quality of our sleep has really been affected. It’s SO much more comfortable than a spring bed and more supportive than a memory foam mattress.
You can check out Eve Mattress on their site and with a 100 day money back guarantee, I have no doubt you’ll be just as convinced as I am.
Have you ever fallen in love with a mattress? What do you think of Eve?

*This post contains affiliate links which just means that if you purchase the bed via my link, I get a small commission which doesn’t affect the price you pay at all, it just helps me buy pretty cushions to decorate my bed! I received the mattress free for my review but like I always say, I only work with companies I really like and think you will like too and I genuinely LOVE this mattress!

12 ZINUS UPHOLSTERED BED FRAME SECRETS – SAVE $100 WITH #7

The Zinus Deluxe Faux Leather Upholstered Platform Bed with Wooden Slats, though not one of the cheaper bed frames available on Amazon, is still one of their top 15 best sellers. Here’s a dozen hidden facts that I gleaned from reading all 265 of Amazon's Answered Questions. They'll help you make your decision to buy easier. You'll find answers for important questions like:
Is it sturdy? Will it work with your mattress, or the mattress you plan to get? And make sure you scroll down to #7 for a tip on how to save over $100 on your bed purchases.

#1 IT'S STABLE ENOUGH FOR A SLEEPING MOOSE

Zinus Upholstered Bed Frame - strong enough to support a bull moose. Click to find more reviews and today's sales price
Save
Absolutely true! The slats on the Zinus upholstered bed frame can support a 1200 pound person or couple, evenly distributed. That’s more than the weight of the average bull moose. So don't worry about this bed being strong enough for you.
Don’t walk on this bed, no matter what your weight. The slats can be broken due to unevenly distributed weight, especially on the small pressure points of feet.
If the slats break, don’t try to jerry-rig a box spring to replace that foundation. The slats and support bar are needed to support a box spring if you choose to use one, they can’t be replaced by one.
If you do break a slat, you may have voided your warranty. You can cut a piece of ¾” plywood to replace it.
Kids can do some bouncing without stressing the platform bed frame or the headboard.
This bed doesn’t wiggle when your partner gets in or out of the bed.
Adult bed activities
There have been no reports of adult entertainmentresulting in squeaking. If you do squeak, though, tighten up every nut and bolt and screw. Then try some WD-40 if that doesn’t work. Most Amazon items only have a 30-day window for returns, so take action immediately if you still squeak after those fixes.
How sturdy is the headboard? It is hollow but sturdy enough to lean against. The padding on it is about ½” thick. It is also necessary for structural stability and so is the footboard. You can’t leave them off and you can’t change them out for others.
Are the legs sturdy? There are 9 legs that are 2”-3” in diameter. The internal legs are steel and support a middle metal structural support. The external legs are dark-colored plastic. The legs aren’t adjustable. They too, are required for structural support. You can’t leave them off and just put the platform bed frame right on the floor without ruining the stability. That would probably be too low, anyway.

#2 IT’S COMPATIBLE WITH EVERY MATTRESS TYPE…EXCEPT THIS ONE

Zinus Upholstered Stitched Platform bed with wooden slats. Great support for your memory foam bed. Click here for more reviews and details.
Don’t try to put a waterbed or flotation mattress on it. They’re too heavy.
But any of the following types will work with the Zinus. Check your warranty to be sure of course, but the frame and slats provide will support:

#3 YOUR MATTRESS WILL FIT…UNLESS YOU HAVE THIS SIZE

You’re out of luck if you’ve got a California King mattress. But this bed is available inmultiple sizes: Twin, Full, Queen, King (AKA eastern King). Check to see if the size you need is in stock, though.
If you’re not sure what size your mattress is, Queen is 60” x 80” and King is 76” x 80”. King will also fit two Twin mattresses.
Mattress thickness: This bed will accommodate a minimum 6” mattress. It works best for 8”-10” but 12” will also work. The thicker the mattress, the less headboard you have available, is all.

#4 HERE’S HOW TO TELL WHETHER THE DIMENSIONS WILL WORK IN YOUR BEDROOM

Use a tape measure to determine if your room is big enough for this bed frame.
Click HERE to find out if that bed frame will even fit in your room. You've got to have space for walking around the bed too. We know that you aren't going to be walking on that bed to get to the door, right?
  • Full (Double) Bed Frame: 82” L x 58” W
  • Queen Bed Frame:  87” L x 65” W
  • King Bed Frame: 87” L x 80” W
The mattress “target” for Full, Queen, and King is 14” from the floor. The mattress sits flush inside a well that is 1” deep to keep it from moving around.
Headboard: From the floor to the top is 45” and from the top of the support slats to the top of the headboard is 33”. It stands on its own and does not need to be fixed to the wall.
How high is the bed frame? Including the legs, it is 15” from the floor to the top of the side rails. The well the mattress sits in is 14” from the floor. Add 14” to the thickness of your mattress to find out the sitting-down height. It’s low enough for small children if you use a 6” mattress.
The storage space available under the bed is 10” – the clearance to get there is 7”.Using bed risers to extend the space is not recommended as that will void your warranty.

#5 NO, IT’S NOT MADE OF CHEAP, SMELLY MATERIALS

There is no cardboard or fake wood – the internal frame is made of hardwood.
The padding and upholstery on the side rails, foot board, and headboard of this platform bed are made of are faux leather.
The Zinus Faux Leather bed does not smell like a litterbox
The faux leather does not stink or contain nasty chemicals. If it does have a smell, it usually disappears within a week. Zinus products are Certipur US Certified for safety. They don’t use harmful chemicals including carcinogens or substances known to cause birth defects. It’s also durable.
This frame also comes in various other colors and styles. Check them out HERE.

#6 THE FAUX LEATHER ZINUS UPHOLSTERED BED FRAME REALLY LOOKS AS GOOD AS THE PHOTOS

Zinus upholstered bed frame color - click to see more colors on Amazon
It’s gorgeous with sleek clean lines.
ColorEspresso faux leather, which can look brown or black depending on the lighting. There are also upholstered models (rather than faux leather) in off-white and gray (but no red, no black, no white).
Headboard: It’s upholstered and vertical rather than slanted. The back is covered with a sturdy fabric similar to that at the bottom of a box spring. It contains zippered compartments where some of the parts are stored during shipping. You could hide a treasure map in there!
What about bed skirts? The bed frame isn’t designed for bed skirts. You’d have toDIY or do some alterations and the skirting sections would have to be about 15” long.

#7 – YOU CAN SAVE $102 ON YOUR BED IF YOU DO THIS…

It’s not your granny’s metal bed frame, so no box spring is needed (the best selling one on Amazon costs over $100). So save your cash and DON’T buy one. Instead of all that, this bed uses strong flexible wooden plywood slats and a metal center support beam as the mattress support.
The slats are 3” wide, ½” thick, and 3” apart. A Velcro strap keeps them from moving and they are not adjustable. The Queen has 10 slats and the King has 14.
There is no need for bunky boards or plywood for support, or any kind of cover – put the mattress right on the slats.
However, you can use a box spring for more height, if you wish. You cannot replace the slats with another mattress foundation such as the SmartBase, though. It won’t work, and you will probably void your warranty.

#8 YOU CAN’T BUY SECTIONS SEPARATELY…WITH ONE EXCEPTION

  • You can’t buy the headboard on its own
  • You can’t buy the bed frame without the slats
  • You can’t buy the slats separately if you’ve broken one (but check #12 for how to get a replacement under warranty)

#9 SHIPPING & DELIVERY CAN FLEX WITH YOUR SCHEDULE

Pocket watch

The box is well packed for shipping, but it is heavy. Get your buddies over to help you move it upstairs.
Box size:
  • Full: 61” x 39” x 5”

  • King: 83” x 34” x 5”

#10 ASSEMBLY IS EASY ENOUGH FOR ONE PERSON - BUT IF YOU NEED HELP…

Easy: one person can put this Zinus bed frame together in an hour and a half. Everything except a mattress is included (tools, legs, supports, slats, bed frame, headboard).
Get a friend to help and then you’re looking at an hour. You could also hire an assembly service if there is such a thing in your area. Maybe get your kids and their friends to do it for a pizza.
Included:
  • Instructions
  •  Tools – Allen wrench and bolts (but no spare nails or screws)
  • Anything missing – contact Sleep Revolution - customerservice@zinusinc.com (800) 613-1225
Tips and advice for assembly:
  •  There is a zippered compartment on the back of the headboard that contains all the parts, including side rails and foot panel.
  • It is easier to align the side panels if you loosen all the bolts and screws a bit before assembly.
  • As per Standard Operating Procedure for anything like this, don’t tighten all the screws completely until everything has been put together.
  • If you lose screws or bolts, they are in standard sizes that you can get at the hardware store.

#11 IT COMES APART EASILY FOR MOVING – JUST USE THIS TRICK

After you put the platform bed together, tape the instructions and the Allen wrench in a Ziplock bag within the upholstered zippered compartment for when you need them again. Don’t bother trying to keep the original box for this eventuality. When you pack it to move, put the parts in zippered baggies and bubble wrap or shrink wrap, use a Sharpie for labeling, and you’ll be fine. As with everything in moving, labeling is key.

#12 HOW TO GET THE BEST WARRANTY AND REPLACEMENT HELP

Print out this section and a copy of your purchase receipt and put them in the zippered compartment with the assembly tools. You’ll have everything you need for a good experience.
One thing to remember is that this bed does not come with 10-year limited warranty that you might expect. It’s a 5-year warranty. As with most warrantees, that will be voided by customization (so don’t replace slats with a box spring and don’t leave the feet off and don’t use a base.
If your headboard or slats are damaged during normal use contact:
